The project aimed at strengthening Children in Street Situation response; Access to medical and psychosocial assistance for children living in the street in Luanda (Angola) and capacity building of social workers and child protection network. As Global Protection Advisor, I had three main responsibilities:

  • To develop and give technical support on the safeguarding strategy of the organization.

  • To support all projects with an inclusion approach: addressing gender, age, migration, social integration and cohesion affecting household and community dynamics.

  • In the countries where GOAL has specific protection or social inclusion programmes, to support the team - from designing the activities to monitoring and evaluation systems.

As an advisor, I was part of GOAL’s programme quality team, developing its strategies, and representing the organization with partners. I have developed a strong interest in methods preferring collective leadership, participation and system approaches. I have supported projects in development and emergency response in over 20 countries. I started as a Child Empowerment and Protection advisor and my role broadened over the years.

Country representative of the INGO, managing 49 professionals working in child protection.

The projects were in public health, family support in a context of stresses from climate change, HIV/Aids epidemic and population flows (male economic migration). We enhanced community based child protection system and capacity building to local organizations to ensure social cohesion and community based support systems.

Country representative of the INGO, managing 60 professionals working in child protection and health.

As the delegate, I opened and registered the representation in Togo and was directly responsible for its programs in child protection (kinship care, child smuggling and trafficking in persons) and health. Tdh led the Family Tracing and Reunification interventions of unaccompanied children who fled to Benin following political violence, in partnership with UNICEF and UNHCR. The organisation coordinated regular capacity building groups based on collective knowledge for social workers.
